It’s cruel when pity or hate,
Taints the love we bear for loved ones.
Is our love the cliched rose?
Which vine of the intertwined;
-love-hate-pity
Will grow stronger with time?
I’m staring at you now and wonder………
“What are you thinking about?” You ask. Your voice shattering inner silence.
“Just how after being…

Truth is the pointed end of a dagger.
You accused me of betrayal.
You bared your bleeding wounds,
And told me I was a ruthless murderer.
Perhaps, you needed the slippery Slope of lies to slither
Out of sight; wrap yourself tight
In the comfort of deceit,
And pretend you didn’t need to
Explain your…

Don’t judge me if you see me watching porn.
Sometimes, we all need to fill in gaping gaps of our reality
With the lure of fantasy.
It’s better than finding receipts of shady hotels; payments for bouquets you never received.
Or the lie of taking my work so seriously, so you may see less of me.
Let me slip away into the orgasmic delight…

I am a live grenade
Waiting to explode….
Beware!
The shrapnel of my thoughts
Will fly and wound sensitive souls
Perhaps, we will all bleed,
In a collective consciousness of
Human pain.

The flesh was never intended for trade;
A commodity at an auction,
Set for the highest bidder.
Intertwined in flesh and bone,
Does the real ‘you’ get mauled
And molested by paws as you groan
And moan in faked delight?
I wonder if poverty alone
Could set millions below that critical line of indecency?
‘College…

When words seem redundant…..
What gestures do we make
To make ourselves heard?
I hold your hand and look into
Your eyes.
I let your gentle embrace grow
Tighter as I breathe in deeply,
And my sigh speaks volumes.
We respond to each other’s
Soft squeeze of entwined fingers,
And that says it all.
But today…

I am a sinner;
Let me blame it on the Original Sin
That tainted mankind for all eternity.
Let’s not forget, in modern times,
As most people try,
Someone else is to blame-
Not you nor I.
It doesn’t matter if I have a brain,
That works!
And can distinguish choices.
I sin in the comfort,
Of leniency;
My…

The mighty elephant stands in the shade of invisible shackles.
So too do I stand, in the cage of
A distant past and painful memories of the present.
Freedom must exist first in the heart and mind;
The spirit must soar,
Albeit on broken wings.
For even caged birds sing
To keep their spirits alive.
Let’s go then- you and I
And find the wind beneath our wings,
That will set us free…
From bitter…

Alcohol gave my words wings
And hurtful accusations,
Like shards of glass, cut the spaces between us.
I saw you flinch, as piece by piece,
Every word cut deep
And left you bleeding in the eye.
I didn’t pause, cut short you protest.
And drew every barb from my quiver.
Perhaps, last night I broke my bow of discontent,
And knew that blow by blow,
I had destroyed the frayed blanket
Of our own self…

When was the last time
You smiled at the lingering scent
A loved one left behind?
When was the last time
You stopped and did nothing-
I mean NOTHING for a change,
And did not worry about it all?
When was the last time
You looked at mum and dad in the eye,
And said, “Thank you for all you have done.”?
When was the last time
You took all your heartaches and matched them up with the countless ways in which…

I smile a lot…
Make my eyes sparkle…
To save you the trouble of looking
Deep down into the dark pools of my reflections.
Sometimes, I fear you will
Dare to peer into the abyss
And discover the painful truth; everyone has skeletons in the closest…. Even me, whom you,
Placed too high upon a pedestal
Out of sheer naivety.
I am silent because you are too young to share the sorrows of my life….
My burdens may not be…

I'm off to the Bowral launch of Ron Pretty's new collection through PSP tonight. Michael Sharkey is launching it. Good to see a real poetry bash in the Southern Highlands! Things like this are few and far between down here. Lorne

Wood rot, termite
Drunken fight
Parent’s party all-night
That’s the plight of the kid from the Houso block.
The landlord changed the lock
Wedding ring goes on the hock
This nuclear has gone to pot
She hits up the bong
It doesn’t take long
For her too fall…

That was meant to read... Putting together poems for the Val Vallis and Whitmore Press Prizes. Not sure if they're any good. There's the odd fine phrase. Always in the penning, there's self-doubt and pride. I should take up stamp collecting - far less taxing! LJ

A SMALL POEM FROM BETWEEN ABU DHABI AND LONDON
Below our drained Etihad cabin,
beyond Kuwait City's
effulgent midnight tapestries,
oil flames scattered
across the wide essential dark
like dying embers
in a slow combustion box.

Good evening all,
I expect this notice will come as a surprise to some, and as something well overdue for others.
Catherine Tunke has been removed from the site.
Some weeks ago, following several keenly felt complaints about her behaviour, I issued Catherine with a warning. Prior to that I'd been periodically monitoring her activity in the site since December.
My observation is that Catherine has made a point of goading and trolling some members…
