When words seem redundant…..
What gestures do we make
To make ourselves heard?

I hold your hand and look into
Your eyes.
I let your gentle embrace grow
Tighter as I breathe in deeply,
And my sigh speaks volumes.

We respond to each other’s
Soft squeeze of entwined fingers,
And that says it all.

But today we were silent.
Our faces revealed what we
Would rather not have said….

How do you tell someone you loved
And still love, albeit, now differently,
That you would like to move on?

We stared into the deafening silence,
Heard each other’s heart beating
Like a drum.
We fumbled nervously
And took refuge in silence.

The word was not spoken-
So we both pretended we
Did not know this time…

That words can sometimes be redundant!
