Hello everyone!

There have been lately unwelcome comments made on people's poems.

After receiving some complaints I have counselled the people responsible and invited them to renew their familiarity with the member's poetry welcome and the notes therein on the tone of comments.

Naturally I'm confident things will improve.

Simply put – let's all act in a positive and contributing way when making comments on the work of others.

As my dear departed brother Ern used to say "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."

My apologies to any who have felt the impact of these unwelcome comments.

Best wishes, as ever,

EMM

PS: Comments welcome ;)

Good Morning Ethel

I applaud your diligence. It is, I am sure, appreciated by most members.

I will add a personal thought: the ability to hide behind a pretend name and an anonymous blue avatar or a misleading or inaccurate photograph will inevitably encourage some members to cross the line into imprudent and sometimes intemperate comment.

Anonymity and responsibility, demonstrably, are not always comfortable bedfellows. I believe that criticism by a person hiding in the dark shadows of anonymity is a seriously anti social act bordering on intellectual and personal cowardice. It has no place within the environment of a social, creative endeavour.

Your continued diligence is most welcome.

Regards

Sums it up perfectly, Dermott. Opinions should always be actively encouraged in an artistic forum such as this one, and the more robust the better, but a little bit of courage, maturity and grace please!
