Will They Be Blessed?

Mask swaying,
broken tempo

Bow plunging,
waves swamping

people sliding,
clutching sanity

together, yet alone

Will they be blessed?

dallas is this in regards to some sort of battle because that is what i got from it? will they be blessed because they have killed?
No, it is my comment on the asylum seekers debate in Australia. I probably need to make that more clear in the poem.

Hi Siamanto

I've been thinking about your question about "Will They Be Blessed", ie is it about some sort of battle. My initial response was "no". But I think you may have discovered another element in the poem, because in a sense it is about a battle: A battle against the odds, a battle with the Australianj authorities, a battle for surivival. Also, if they are not true aslyum seekers but terrorists trying to get a way, then the question of whether they will be blessed because they have killed is also relevant to the poem.

Thank you. You havd given me a few things to think about.

well i was going to say these pieces could be interpreted differently from different perspectives also, i dont think a piece such as this has one final interpretation, its the beauty of the language and the poem itself. :)

You are right. Thank you. You have given me a valuable insight. I'm relatively new to the world of poetry, I started in 2007 (and I don't know why) and I am thoroughly enjoying the experience.
