A strange paradox today's news presents;
The dilemma of looking like a…

Strange how one day-an hour-a minute
And a silly old countdown changes the equation:
Growing older by a year I’m not necessarily wiser,
The numerical increase in the count of my anniversaries
Doesn’t necessarily make them sweeter.
My children, though technically older,
Are not necessarily mature or independent.
The leftovers in my fridge
Have crossed the safest use by date.
The unpaid bills for the month of…

Gripped those laden with new age bibles.
The poor and the dying looked on longingly
As bags of rice piled up on the floor.
Beside the door, the missionary van reversed to spill
A thousand free copies of Gideon's bible near the door.
"Here it is the Word of the Lord!"
She gushed, unable to control her own feverish pitch.
"HE is the ONE that saved all our souls from…

A dog died yesterday.
Perhaps it did not know our traffic rules
Some thundering wheels
Took part of it (albeit unintentionally)
To some Gangetic town,
Some hours later
Only a fading red patch
Spoke softly of its existence
Four similars later
Animal activists cried, "Murder!",
Brought the town to a halt
And new speed breakers made the…

I miss my father too!
I wish when he was alive
He could have told me he always missed me too.
It's a pity that he never heard me drop
the words that hung out of my lips
But evaporated in the heat of the harsh sun.
The past is like an iceberg in the sun,
Chunks of my life have been lost
In unending rivulets that stained and streaked
The shirts of those that understood.
But nothing can…

In the heat of all your own passions
Don’t forget, my friend,
To tend to your own garden too.
For when your road must come to an end
On looking back, you shouldn’t find
That weeds have overrun the seeds
That you had sown with such tender love and care.
What good is it then
If closer home your saplings lie burnt
In the scorching heat of your daily obsessions,
But further afield lie the Edens of your…

Walk in my shoes if you care!
Feel faceless eyes sear your back with curious stares
And hear poison tipped and sharp edged words rain on you
As you rush to find shelter in a free country.
Nothing has really changed in the background;
The foreground reveals a change:
Of clothing and make up artists.
There's branded wear everywhere!
But behind the labels stare cold and listless eyes of…

You silenced my beating heart today.
I was breathing and feasting on all the wonderful
Things you had that day.
But today, as you silenced my beating heart.
I wished I could tell you tales of my dreams
As I tumbled merrily from one side of my world to the other!
It truly seemed a great distance then.
I felt life was exciting as I heard a million sounds
Filter through the…

Furtive glances.
Blank faces share
Blank stares.
The crisp silence sits
Between two commuters.
We pretend we have work to do.
Who has time for cheerful neighbourly banter?
The blob in our ears signals our love for frosty silence.
Your minds wanders--Flits and flicks through touch screen worlds till,
The hustle of the station,
Brings you back to reality;
Where you…

The ambulance glides to a halt
Flashing lights form strange shadows
On surrounding window panes
of blinded, anxious neighbours.
Uniformed-They step out in frightening unison,
Armed the genii of medical marvels'
and rush in through the open door.
Inside, inert-gasping on the floor
lies one in the throes of the final…
