Fish and chip

Fancy a chip, ach, get us a fish
Okay, no problem, only that fateful
Saturday afternoon in 93 there occurred
Another act, of Belfast infamy, fish, and chips
Please, asking, as two delivery men brush past

Innocuous in their uniforms, though, blindly carrying
Death, murder, and mayhem into an innocent
Saturday afternoon, their bomb cover tray exploded
Prematurely, killing eight innocent customers, and one
Terrorist, no right, only one dastardly
Wrong on the Shankill road, that 23rd day of October in 93
Innocence’s asking for a fish, and chip blown into eternity.

What certainty, in evil minds can condone a savage act?
Rebellion, against whom, workers,
No justice in their actions, only bloody murder
As all around them innocent people asked, may I
Have a fish, and chip please, do you want salt, vinegar
Okay the reply, and then, the premature fireball,
Swept them away,Murder. patriotism,
Last refuge of the scoundrel.
