Gender Bias

So what else is new?! Sorry Adrian but this has been a point of discussion since before the anthology Mother I'm Rooted (ed Kate Jennings) came out in 1975 to the 'embarrassment' of so many...male poets?

Anyway I'm glad you brought it up because not a lot has changed in terms of editing, cliques and power. What has changed I think is the emergence of so many strong women poets—whether they are anthologized or not! N.S.

This is a social site built by the poets (and friends) of Sydney (and surrounds) for the poets (and friends) of Sydney (and surrounds).

You can:

add poetry events, photos and videos to the site,
add your own poetry in the Member's Poetry section (but just one a day please),
write blog posts (and let us know if already blog so we can add you to the members blogroll)
start topics in the forum,
invite poets you know to join,
comment on just about everything, or
just keep an eye on what's happening.

This being a social site the more we all do here the more interesting it becomes for everyone. While there's no editor deciding what gets published there is just a bit of post facto moderation to keep it clean and on-topic.

I hope you enjoy your time on the site and find it useful, and please let us know what you think.
