Journey across the great Sandy Desert of Australia, parched

Birds' wings flapping 
Red sunlight on dusty earth 
Camels know the desert 
As the cameleer packs for 
2 million hectares 
Feast for the ecologist
Flight of the birds,
A thousand desperate
wings at ye feet 
New traps in old familiar places

I made this journey across the
great Sandy Desert of Australia,
parched.
