Event Description

Miles Merrill has chosen two diverse writer-performers to cast spells over the WordinHand audience.

In 2010, Alan Pham, a med student from Houston Texas, won the title of NSW Slam Champion. Alan fuses wordsmithing with advocacy and education. His poetry explores deeply personal and powerfully compelling aspects of his Vietnamese family and his community. His soul pours out with each performance.

Diolita is a Sydney goddess of song whose skills traverse hip hop, soul, spoken word and branch into event management. She won FBI radio’s on air Poetry Slam in 2006. Her live performances have been described as “strong, aggressive, political and uplifting.” Whether it’s acapella or just her and her guitar, Diolita delivers.
