6am in the universe by Benjamin Frater
To be launched by Shady Cosgrove
With an inheritance from Ginsberg and the Beats, the Symbolists, the Russian Futurists and Artaud, Benjamin Frater (1979-2007) applied their traditions to his vision of the suburbs of south-west Sydney and produced, both on the page and in performance, some of the most total and committed poetry of his generation.
His public readings were electrifying events, culminating in his appearance at the 2006 Mad Pride Festival. He died in July 2007 as a result of a misadventure with the medication used to treat his schizophrenia.
Perrier Fever by Pete Spence
To be launched by Pam Brown
Pete Spence has achieved an enviable international acclaim for much of his work in painting, experimental film, visual poetry and of course the exuberant, engaging lyric verse he has been writing since the mid-1960s.
Yes it was. Especially as his stuff is so hard to get a hold of. Some amazing imagery and overall hard hitting ambitious work. Quote from my favourite of his 'My Forearm'
'The dreamer who butchered his arm to challenge his reality, now butchers his reality to challenge his arm, … MAW RAW MIND … the impure amazement and living memory of BLEEDING VEINS AND BEATING WINGS'
