Event Description

Arts Residency Application Information for 2012

Each year the Asialink Residency program sends 40 Australian writers, performers, artists and arts managers to live and work throughout Asia. Since its inception in 1991 the program has sent more than 600 people to hosts in 19 countries. The grant of up to $12,000 goes towards travel, living and project expenses, and affords recipients the opportunity for in-depth research, stimulating cultural exchanges, international collaboration and uninterrupted time for creativity.

Residencies are open to writers of fiction, non-fiction (including essays, biography, history, travel writing, literary non-fiction), children's books, poetry, plays, blogs, new media, hybrid text-based art, content for digital platforms and more.

Grants of up to $12,000 go towards travel, living and project expenses, and afford recipients a unique opportunity for international cultural exchange, in-depth research and sustained time on creative work.

Hosts vary from Australian Studies Centres and University Literature departments to artist retreats, writers centres and publishers. Applicants also have the option of proposing their own host organisation.

Applications for 2012 residencies NOW OPEN and close Monday 1 August 2011
