You'd been hit by friendly fire

He was supposed to protect you, now you tell me he's a liar

How much he'd hurt you and made you weep

And broken those vows he'd swore to keep

You'd walked away to start again, no longer trusting the word of men

 Now you've assembled your defences

it'll not happen again you've come to your senses

It no longer matters who you find to replace,  they may be innocent bystanders -

they'll still wear the same face

and should they learn to love you and dispair

It no longer matters you never were there

But I don't believe they are the enemy and how do they fight

this one ghost from your past held forever in your sight

It doesn't have to be like this

and I don't want to be your accomplice
