Event Description

Come along to our annual Local Writers' Word Festival on Saturday 20 November, 10am - 3pm at Woollahra Council.

This annual festival supports and showcases local writers by giving them a voice, an audience and the opportunity to learn more about their craft from peers and professionals.

If you enjoy books and are interested in writing, this is a day for you! All welcome.

The event will feature seminars by literary agent Lyn Tranter, critic and author Michael Wilding as well as popular broadcaster and best-selling author Richard Glover.

As part of the Festival, local authors were encouraged to submit their small-press or self- published stories, non-fiction or poetry for judging by acclaimed author Irina Dunn, of the Australian Writers Network and renowned literary critic Geordie Williamson. Selected entrants will give readings, have their work for sale and be interviewed by Irina Dunn about the creative process.

This years’ event will see announcement of the inaugural winners of the Local Writers’ Word Festival

Prizes and there will also be a Lucky Door Prize for attendees!

Author Dr John Wright of Potts Point said: "The Woollahra Local Writers' Festival was a wonderful and vital segue for my international publication. If you are a writer looking to expand your audience, I cannot recommend the Festival more highly. It is a brilliant conception."
