Event Description

Join us at the UNOFFICIAL LAUNCH of fastBREAK at Surry Hills Late Night Library. Special FREE evening event!

Whet your appetite for the upcoming fastBREAK 2012 season, or just find out what fastBREAK is all about! Official fastBREAK season kicks off on the 24th of February with our partners the Powerhouse Museum.

We'll host rapid fire talks where speakers will present their opinions and insight about conversations that matter.

The theme is "Beginnings", coinciding with the relaunch of Vibewire’s new website, 5 young leaders will discuss important issues relating to arts & creativity, media & politics, social justice, science & technology, health and environment.

Speakers include:

Jonathan Nicholas- CEO of Inspire and member of the team that launched ReachOut.com. His work with Inspire has included involvement with UNICEF. Jonathan gave training to Indonesia on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and co-authored a report on women and children in Cambodia.

Dr Rachael Dunlop- Artist and graphic designer turned medical researcher. Rachel is Vice President of the NSW committee of Australian Skeptics as well as a science contributor to various magazines and websites. Winner of the Twitter Shorty Award for Health 2010.

Scott Drummond- Social business strategist and online community manager who works to bring companies closer to their customers. Social media director at Host Sydney and on the board for the Awesome Foundation. Scott is also a Bicycle Film Festival producer.

Hannah De Milta- A Cleveland girl turned Sydneysider. She is the curator of the Sydney Fetch – the Fetch is a local “what’s on guide” across business, digital and creative. She enjoys helping people find out about cool events (such as fastBREAK). Hannah also works at digital agency Switched on Media.

George Phillip- A former full time worker and now a full time entrepreneur. He is currently setting up a media agency after discovering his passion for all things digital. He is primarily interested in increasing small businesses’ use of digital marketing channels. George has a background in working with media agencies, and of note, at Amnesia Razorfish (a leading global media agency).

So if you've always wanted to come to fastBREAK but just not a morning person, now here's your chance!

And did we mention it's FREE? RSVP a must as places are limited.
