Marcelle Freiman & Peter Kirkpatrick

Marcelle Freiman has published two books of poetry, White Lines (Vertical) (Hybrid Publishers,Vic.)Monkey's Wedding (Island Co-op, NSW). She grew up in South Africa and lived in London before migrating to Sydney, where she has resided since 1981. Much of her poetry emerges from this biography, from her interest in the visual arts and from a constantly shifting sense of place. She teaches creative writing and literature at Macquarie University and has research interests in creative writing, poetry, and postcolonial and diaspora literatures.

Peter Kirkpatrick has published two collections of poetry, Wish You Were Here (Five Islands, 1996) and Westering (Puncher & Wattmann, 2006). Westering was joint winner of the 2007 William Baylebridge Memorial Prize, and was shortlisted for the 2008 Kenneth Slessor Prize. In 2004 he won the Newcastle Poetry Prize with “Bucolic Plague, or This Eco-Lodge My Prison”. A small selection of his verse, Australian Gothic , was published by Picaro Press in 2012 as part of the Wagtail series. He teaches Australian Literature in the English Department of the University of Sydney.
