On Shakespeare is a fascinating backstage pass to the life and plays of the Bard from Australia’s best-known Shakespearean actor and director, John Bell.
Written in a vivid and accessible style Bell offers a unique perspective on the histories, tragedies, comedies and romances of the playwright, plus memorable insights into Shakespeare’s sonnets.
Exiting a performance of one of Shakespeare’s plays theatregoers often ask themselves questions like did Shakespeare really write all those plays? Was he a subversive? Did he believe in ghosts? Why does Bell Shakespeare do the Bard in modern dress? And how long does it take the actors to prepare for their roles?
John Bell speaks to David Malouf about his experiences with the plays, reflecting on these questions and more with humour and wit.
Event is free to attend, but please register your interest on 9262-7996 or email ebd1-sydney@kinokuniya.co.jp.
