Dr. Colin Cruise explores the radical 19th century British artists of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. As outlined in his book, Pre-Raphaelite Drawing (Thames & Hudson, 2011) and the accompanying exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Dr Cruise proposes that the Brotherhood's distinctive approach to drawing had a long-lasting impact, influencing late-19th century British art and design, including the Aesthetic Movement, Symbolism, Art Nouveau and the Arts & Crafts Movement.
Colin Cruise is visiting Sydney in conjunction with the exhibition The poetry of drawing: Pre-Raphaelite studies, watercolours and designs (organised by Birmingham Museums & Art Gallery) on show at the Art Gallery of New South Wales from 18 June to 24 Sept 2011.
