In collaboration with The City of Sydney and State Library of NSW, Australian Poetry presents Acting on Ink: an evening of award winning Australian poetry performed by leading Australian actors.

Critically acclaimed performers, Charlie Garber, Meredith Penman and Nick Coyle will engage the audience in a dynamic presentation of the best Australian poetry in 2011, the poems and poets who have won the big awards this year:

• Mark Tredinnick who won the Newcastle Poetry Prize for The Wombat Vedas and the WA Premier's Book Award for Fire Diary.
• Cate Kennedy who won the Victorian Premier's Literary Award for poetry for The Taste of River Water
• Jennifer Maiden who won the NSW Premier's Kenneth Slessor Prize for poetry for Pirate Rain
• Robert Adamson who won The Blake Prize for his poem: Via Negativa The Divine Dark
  

Our actors will read the poetry in front of a back drop of the bold and stunning ink prints of Sydney Artist, Robyn Wilson. A Master of Ceremonies will guide the event with performances being followed by a short Q&A with the audience to stimulate discussion and inspire the imagination.

Acting on Ink celebrates and promotes contemporary Australian poetry by engaging new audiences via an entertaining and accessible presentation.
