Event Description

This Friday, November 19th, marks a week of activities around the country organised by Sydney PEN to commemorate the Day of the Imprisoned Writer (November 15).

At the State Library of NSW, barrister and human rights advocate Julian Burnside AO QC will give an address on how freedom of expression has progressed in our Asia Pacific region, and what it's got to do with us in Australia. Following Burnside's address, two leading law academics, Dr Ben Saul and Dr Kath Gelber, will take up the topic in a chaired discussion.

The night will start with drinks from 6pm, and will end with the presentation of the 2010 Sydney PEN Award.

Come along and support PEN, your advocate for the freedom to read and write.
