A social site for poets in Sydney.
A night of pedal-to-the-metal-but-totally-not-car-related performance poetry, featuring Emrys Quin & Scott Sandwich!
$5/$10 donation entry. 7:30pm for 8pm start.
Emrys Quin is a Sydney based poet and playwright, he has been published three times as each respectively and has performed as part of Harvest festival, Jurassic Lounge, Caravan Slam + Caravan Sets, and Hammer & Tongue poetry nights in the UK - relatively new to the poetry block he hopes to one day earn his mauve beret, relatively new to the playwriting block he hopes to one
day earn a free drink.
Scott Sandwich performs fast-paced rants, readings and awkward hip hop, telling stories about dates, death and the apocalypse. He envisages a world where academic approaches to poetry can live peacefully alongside horrific puns and fart jokes.
He will be featured in the show 'These Arms Of Mine' as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival in October. He won the FBi Radio Slam, performed as a finalist in the National Slam Finals in 2010, won the 2010 Woodford ‘Wordfood’ Slam Competition, and was a finalist at the Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup in 2011 and in 2012. His latest work The Kalevala (According To Scott Sandwich) has been featured around Finland at TR1 Gallery, Breathing Space, MUU Gallery, and the Arteles Creative Centre. You can read more at ScottSandwich.com.
This is Sydney’s premier regular and enduring poetry / spoken word event, providing open mike opportunities for voices directly from the Sydney community plus a high-energy poetry slam every month in addition to a featured poet or two.
First Tuesdays except January, 7:30 for 8:00 PM. Donation $10/$5. Slam Prize $50.
