Watch out, those Magpies may attack

and swoop on people from the back!

They'll frighten and intimidate

intruders to their claimed estate.

They're boldly plumed in in black and white

just like Currawongs at first sight.

They carol as they walk around

and guard their territory's ground.

They clap their beaks in warning, when

a predator is near and, then

continue scratching in the weeds,

for worms and grubs and millipedes.

But when, at last, they've had their fill

they open wide their throats, to trill

and oh, the joy to hear them sing

such sweet melodious warbling

and long the dulcet tones are heard

that chirrup from this awesome bird.
