Event Description

This month's feature poet at Brett Whiteley Studio is award winning Sydney poet Fiona Wright.

Fiona Wright is a Sydney poet, whose work has been published journals, newspapers and anthologies in Australia, Asia and the USA. Her work was included in Best Australian Poems 2008, 2009 and 2010 (Black Ink) and the Toilet Doors Project (2004), and she was runner-up in the 2008 John Marsden National Young Writers Award. In 2007, she was awarded an Island of Residencies placement at the Tasmania Writers’ Centre, developing a sequence of poems about Australians in Sri Lanka. Fiona works as Poetry Editor at Giramondo Publishing. Her collection Knuckled (Giramondo 2011) has been shortlisted for the Dame Mary Gilmore Award for a first collection of poetry.

I would like to thank Norm & Pam for generously stepping in to assist with the general operations of last month's reading. Their willingness aided Queensland based poet Geoffrey Datsun on the launch of his latest collection Protest Singer. From all reports it was a notable poetry event, so it would be remiss of you not to join us for the second to last reading of the year for 2012.

Music by Mr John Maddox.
