Event Description

Judith Beveridge is the author of The Domesticity of Giraffes, Accidental Grace, Wolf Notes and Storm and Honey. Her prizes include the NSW, Victorian and Queensland Prizes for Poetry, the Grace Levin Prize, the Wesley Michel Wright Award and the Josephine Ulrick Prize. In 2005 she was awarded the Philip Hodgins Memorial Medal for excellence in Literature. She teaches poetry writing at the University of Sydney and the University of Newcastle. She is the poetry editor of Meanjin. Her work is studied in schools and universities and has been translated into several languages.

Stephen Edgar has published eight collections of poetry, the most recent being The Red Sea: New and Selected Poems, published this year in the US by Baskerville. He has a new Australian collection, Eldershaw (Black Pepper), due out soon. His last Australian collection was History of the Day, which won the William Baylebridge Memorial Prize for 2009.

 

His other books include Other Summers (2006) and Lost in the Foreground (2003). In 2005 he won the inaugural Australian Book Review Poetry Prize for his poem “Man on the Moon” and in 2006 was awarded the Philip Hodgins Memorial Medal.
