Sad sitcoms are on.

Even here in the boot of history,

the canned laughter of happily ever after

invades my space.

What is it about them people enjoy?

Immersing themselves,

on some half-baked pretext,

in perfect yet quirky families

and topsy-turvy affairs

of the superficial heart.

For me, my Moroccan green tea’s

enough of a distraction.

But not even the subtle hint of mint

can soothe the soggy bosom

of sitcom reality.
