Good Morning Adrian.

Thank you for your welcoming words. I am working through the opportunities presented by this excellent site and wonder can you provide a little help?

Can you advise: I want to add my Blog, http://screwsoaper.wordpress.com/ to Members Bloglist, how do I achieve this?

Also, how to I access ‘About’ I would like to add a short biog?

And, I am curious, what is the difference between ‘Blogs’ and ‘Featured Blogs’?  Why do the same two ‘featured Blogs’ appear all the time? Am I selecting incorrectly?

Thank you for your work and skill in providing the interesting site.

Regards

DR

Hi Adrian, Thanks for your welcome to the Sydney Poetry site (some time ago). If you are the site's moderator, please read comments left on my page about a new member called David Wakeling who seems to be getting his thrills by writing extremely negative and disrespectful remarks on several poets' pages. One of the other poets who read my poetry has followed his trail of destruction so you may wish to caution or delete him. Is he even a poet or does he just get sick kicks from knocking people who are more creative? Cheers, Jewel

To save you the trouble of searching for it, here is what Dermott Ryder had to say:

Please dismiss the criticisms of David Wakeling, if that is indeed his name. Consider - how can one possibly respect the opinions of a person who hides behind an anonymous ‘blue avatar’ to post acerbic criticism?

His only comments so far on Poetry Sydney have been crude, rude and offensive. His unrestrained and inappropriate responses to 'ON MEETING THE AUSTRALIAN POETIC GIANT-PETER SKRZYNECKI' contained the words: ‘rubbish’, ‘wog’ and ‘liar’. His is a destructive rather than a creative vocabulary.

His somewhat fragmented comments on your work – ‘Is this for real? You actually give advice to the mongrel who beat you. Do you really think a dog like that will read this? This is Fairyland. Sadly a grab for sympathy that failed’. – are equally inappropriate, and are certainly insensitive.

His comments on Slam Poets were also a very negative response. He wrote: ‘I couldn't understand one word. Actually I have a dog that speaks clearer english than this’. What can one say? Is the dog aware that English is usually accorded a capital ‘E', or as I used to say to my younger students, a big letter?

His conduct, language and terminal negativity begs the questions: What are his motives? Why is he following this unpleasant course of action? Is his name really David Wakeling, if so why does he not upload a recognizable photo so that when we meet him in the pub we can shout him a beer?

Finally, Jewel Rainbow, keep on writing. You are a far more rewarding read than the anonymous David Wakeling will ever be.

Dear Adrian

I write to you in your role as Site Moderator to express my objections to the inappropriate responses posted by a member using the name David Wakeling to the work 'ON MEETING THE AUSTRALIAN POETIC GIANT-PETER SKRZYNECKI’ on the Bard’s Page.

His responses are offensive. His comment that a poet Peter Skrzynecki’s work is ‘rubbish’ must surely be unacceptable on any social site, especially this one. His racialist slur of ‘Wog’, when referring to the poet Peter Skrzynecki is appallingly insulting. It may also be an offence against the racial discrimination legislation.

If one member freely uses this belligerent hate-language on ‘Poetry Sydney’ will it bring opprobrium to all members? In essence, will it tarnish the site? These are risks, in my opinion, best not taken.

Also, it is totally beyond the bounds of reasonably, robust debate to be called a liar by David Wakeling for simply disagreeing with his outrageous actions and expressions and doubting his motives.

David Wakeling has crossed that clearly drawn line of decency established and supported by reasonable, civilized people. Please remove his offensive and negative comments, particularly from the Bard’s page and prudently from wherever else they appear.

I am sorry to have to write to you in these terms, however, please be assured of my respect, admiration and on-going support for this excellent enterprise.

Regards

Hi Adrian David Wakely is giving a lot of nasty comments to different members on their poetry

Adrian - for you ref:

Good morning Bill

I see the destructive David Wakeling has attacked again. He appears to have embarked upon a policy of abusing everyone that brings something new to Poetry Sydney. I applaud your earlier measured response.

Members have alerted the moderator to Wakeling’s on-going campaign of sabotage but as yet neither action nor response is apparent.

Questions arise:

Why should any member invite a friend from the outside world to join us on Poetry Sydney to suffer the detritus raining Wakeling?

Why should any poet, established, emerging or braving this media for the first time, bring new work to Poetry Sydney to be the target of an inane and counter-productive wrecker?

To receive informed and constructive criticism presented with thoughtful and sensitive good will is a desire shared by many writers. Surely, to achieve such a productive focus must be one of the major reasons Adrian Wiggins created Poetry Sydney.

The raving of David Wakeling does not fall within these reasonable and socially acceptable parameters. So why is he being allowed to rave on unrestrained and to no foreseeable good? His actions attack the reputation and future viability of the site.

PS for David Wakeling: David, get a life, get help, use your real name and upload a recognizable photo so that we may see you for who and what you are.

Regards

I find the comments of David Wakeling very disturbing. We should have no place for this type of hateful language on a site dedicated to the poetry. If the best he can do is to say his dog can speak better English (with a small e) then maybe his place might be better served in play school, or some KKK site from the America South.

Hi Adrian, and thanks for your welcome.

I've never been a member of a poetry club before, or really shared poetry, but am finding it fun and rewarding to post my own and read other people's stuff.

I will go and read the moderation policy, as suggested.

Best wishes,

Derek

p.s And thanks for being inclusive of Bermagui! I am originally from Sydney but have been living down here for a few years.

Why is 'Poetry Sydney’ featuring advertising material for this industrial polyurethane peddler, ‘Ultimate Linings’? What next, an evangelistic rave in favour of ‘brown coal’ power stations?

This posting has no place 'Poetry Sydney’. If the site moderators believe otherwise one must conclude that an unconscionable selling of the soul has occurred and that 'Poetry Sydney’ is on its way to hell in a polyurethane lined hand basket.

However, the immediate expunging of the ‘Ultimate Linings’ commercial detritus will go some way to demonstrate ‘keeping the faith’.
