Leah Greengarten appointed NSW Director for Australian Poetry

As you may be aware the Poets Union of NSW and the Australian Poetry Centre in Vic have united to become, um... Australian Poetry.  Just like Opera Australia, only it's poetry, not opera (& with no arias or dress-ups either sadly).

Anyway – Paul Kooperman of Australian Poetry just dropped AP's Who's Who press release into our groaning inbox and I thought y'all'd be interested to know who the whos are, amongst them Leah Greengarten (pictured) who has been appointed NSW State Director.

From the press release:

MEET THE PEOPLE
Paul Kooperman (National Director), Victoria Amy (National Publications Manager), Katie Walsh (National Program Manager), Emilie Zoey Baker (National Education Officer), Andy Jackson (National Library Manager), Robert Lukins (Administration Officer), Leah Greengarten (NSW State Director), Katrina Bercov (WA State Director)

We hope Leah has been advised of our own suggested additions to her new job description.

Here's more about Leah from the Australian Poetry Centre site:

Leah has been working as an international print journalist for the last 7 years, living in London, Paris and Sydney. Her articles have appeared in The New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Travel + Leisure, Luxury Travel and Australian Traveller. Leah was born in Sydney, Australia in 1981 and graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2003 with a Bachelor of Media Communications. Last year she completed her Masters in Journalism at the University of Technology, Sydney. As part of her Masters, Leah was successful in obtaining the competitive International Herald Tribune internship in Paris, spending a semester at their headquarters as a paid intern in 2008. Leah is most excited about her new appointment as the NSW Director of Australian Poetry, where she will be surrounded by talented poets, up-and-coming literary laureates and great harbour views.

Happy the poet with a harbour view.

On an unrelated (but diverting) note

Do you remember when Prince changed his name into an unpronounceable symbol and became The Artist Formerly Know As Prince (TAFKAP).

TAFKAP called his quirky glyph the Love Symbol.

Do we now have the Australian Poetry Love Symbol?

Comments welcome.
