Island understands that it's hard to keep your cricketing whites poems clean without an industrial machine with a decent soak cycle and 1200 RPM spin for drip-dry finish.

In all seriousness though Brett Martin's 'Q' series of photos in the latest Island 122 is a treat – a shame perhaps that the promise of the front cover isn't followed through inside with photos in full colour. Also a shame that photos are used as internal section covers, not counterpoint. But I digress – this is a poetry site not a photography site.

Poems to reckon with aplenty in this issue with new work by Ian C Smith, Laurice Gilbert, Josephine Rowe, John Carey, Andrew Sant, Anne Elvey, Gregory Horne, Rod Usher, JK Murphy, Reza Alavi, Mark O’Flynn, Lucy Dougan, Jennifer Compton, Samuel Rutter, Sheryl Persson, Lorne Johnson, Marjon Mossammaparast, John Kinsella & Andrew Lansdown.

Some of these poems are also available to read on the Island site (warning – the navigation is a little unintuitive at times).

Note dear members – none here from sydneypoetry.com crew. Your mission is clear. Hit Island with your best bits and go hard till they give in. Here's how to submit.
