I love to munch on raw onions, but when you dwell deep enough,my words are sweeter than honey Undeterred, through the Agora, carrying a lantern, under the blazing sun, squinting hard as I look aheadI’m searching for an honest man I saw a child at the fountainlapping water from his palmsand I hurled my drinking bowl awayin…See More

MOZART'S DOG

People think I'm mad ...When I tell themI was Mozart's dog!Believe me, it's trueI was a fox terrier,They called me Bimpes.Through the apartmentThe music always flowed,Concerti, cadenzas, sonatas,Master Wolfie hardly slept,Yet I do know something,He always had time for a patHe would often rush towards meShiny shoe buckles, white stockingsAnd that crazy infectious laugh! My tail would wag, I would barkHe'd toss me a liver dumplingAnd I'd gobble it in mid airIn the blustering winters,By the log…See More

BOSTON 1919

I still walk through the sticky goo,A pallid apparition meanderingAround the old rail yards, Where the decrepit tank blew!We all knew that one day she wouldThe metal creaked and groaned,Laden with the dark sticky liquidOozing through the cracksAnd She eventually erupted.Ripping apart at the seams,The ground shook violentlyGod! Alls I can remember is ...Bam bam bam bam bam,As the rusting rivets poppedAnd sprayed like bullets in the streetA colossal tide of molasses surged And Smashed through the…See More

Hi Thomas, and welcome to the Sydney Poetry social site.

This is a social site built by the poets (and friends) of Sydney (and surrounds) for the poets (and friends) of Sydney (and surrounds).

You can:
  • add poetry events, photos and videos to the site,
  • add your own poetry to the site in the Member's Poetry section (but only one a day please),
  • write blog posts, or start topics in the forum,
  • invite poets (and teachers, readers, writers, performers) you know to join,
  • comment on just about everything, or
  • just keep an eye on what's happening.

This being a social site the more we all do here the more interesting it becomes for everyone.

There's no membership fee and no middlewoman – there is though just a bit of moderation to keep it clean and on-topic.

So we all know a bit more about your interest in poetry please introduce yourself, what you write, what you read etc with a few words in the editable text box on your profile page.

Best wishes,
Adrian
