A social site for poets in Sydney.
Hi Everyone - I am new to this site and thought I'd start by sharing one of my favourite poems I've written about one of my favourite things in the whole world - my beautiful border collie, JJ. I hope you like it, the poem is called Jasmine.
Jasmine
The sweet, sweet smell of jasmine, it lingers in the air
As we stroll along the pathway, not a worry, not a care
I walk along in silence, unwinding with each stride
The sunlight slowly fading, JJ closely at my side
She sniffs the flowers, sniffs the earth; she is content in every way
A strong and faithful companion; today and every day
With each step we take around the block, a sense of relaxation flows
The thoughts of days and weeks gone by, released through my feet, my toes
We walk across the park, walking free in the grassy space
JJ takes it to a trot and the night air cools my face
She takes advantage of the freedom; the space uncluttered, her boundaries wide
The day is nearly gone and so I step up my easy stride
As we head towards the house, the sun sets orange in the west
And I’m sure that JJ feels the same; daily walks sure are the best.
