Overcast late afternoon. Quiet bus ride home, via Woolloomooloo. Softly, an 80′s song came to mind, though I couldn’t remember the words. Blue-grey water to my left. Cowper Wharf Roadway wound ahead and suddenly found the night.

I never dug Spandau Ballet, Lee, but Big Audio Dynamite, The Clash, PiL, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, OMD, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Art of Noise, Age of Chance, The Cure, The Smiths, The Stone Roses & World Party moved me! Ah, the 80s was a golden age for pop music. Pure poetry. LJ, June 9 2013.

It certainly was, Lorne. I led a double life in the 80's... there were half a dozen nightclubs I frequented which played new music coming out of the UK....all the groups you've mentioned as well as Duran Duran, Human League, Boy George etc. and there was also one solitary club called Jules, which played American R&B and funk.

Thinking back now, it was hilarious. I'd be running back and forth between clubs...between different sets of friends....different ways of dressing. I was a quick-change artist....always had a change of clothes in my car (got a tap on the window by a curious policeman more than once). Good times.

Interesting, Lee. Nice work! Club 77 on William St was my weekend haunt for a few years in the early to mid-90s. Pure Pop, Robo Disco et. al. Eraserhead and Knife the staple DJs. 77 was always a safe, awesome spot. Miss those nights a bit. LJ

I know what you mean. Sometimes I think I will wait till I turn 50 and then spend the entire decade nightclubbing and behaving badly...hehe
