GREEN ON BLUE  EAR 2012

Everyone often needs a helping hand, whether at home or in a distant land

With historical rivalries or issues brand new & there are more than a few

We come with a noble heart to keep enemies apart & help you make it through

Foreign forces, hoping to make a peaceful home for you

But too often it ends up, green on blue.

It's between bluing* & agreeing

We're here to help & trust we may get the job done

We're here with good intention, so better make mention

That we're packing more than RPG's, walkie-talkies & a gun.

We've come to progress the peace, attempt to make the warring cease

And train locals to rule your own home. Any takers?

We're just the icebreakers, movers & shakers

Intentionally targeting rebels, not employing undertakers for fun.

(*bluing: Australian term, indicating having a misunderstanding or a tiff)

Far, far away from home & family, knowing the joys & taste of being free

Honourable soldiers, duty bound

Without political aims, not adding fuel to the flames

No motives to progress the arms sales games, hoping the lost can be found.

More than a motley crew, with a heart so true, never contemplating green on blue.

Hoping for solutions with a neutral point of view, never contemplating green on blue.

Why does it happen when we are here helping you?

Why should it ever turn, green on blue?

Counting long days, lonely nights, while stars decorate the skies with sparkling light

Coalition forces attempting to do what we believe is right

& getting in the middle of, what is not even our fight

It' s somewhat a brutal parade where passing out has an errie, unpredictable future

Where life & death are encased, into a ragged sense of shameless war theatre

Travelling in circles, slow & steady like graceful turtles, to stop civilians being killed

Children, women, old folk, amid the dust & smoke, as more blood seems to be spilled

Politicians on all sides, take their constituents for a ride, regardless of the situation

This is a universal trait, sort of destiny & fate, in almost every damned nation.

More than a motley crew, with intention & heart so true

Never contemplating green on blue.
