PRESENTS Carolyn Gerrish and John Carey

Carolyn Gerrish is a Sydney poet, but was originally from Cessnock.She has been active in the Sydney poetry scene since the 1980s. She has published
five poetry collections, the most recent 'The View from the Moon' (Island Press, 2011).She frequently performs her work and has read at the Brett Whitelely Gallery, The Sydney Writers Festival. Newtown Festival and Poetry at the Pub (Newcastle). She runs creative writing courses at the WEA and
at community organisation and is a member of Round Table Poets and Young Street poetry groups.Carolyn believes that poetry should be about self-discovery, global reflection and satirical intent; not a platform for wilful obscurantism.

John Carey is an ex-teacher of French and Latin and a former actor, mostly with New Theatre at Newtown. He has four collections, the latest "One Lip Smacking" from Picaro Press.
