Event Description

Australian born poet Richard James Allen speaks from his unique perspective of having written across a myriad of delivery platforms from page to stage to screen to new media.  Dr Allen’s 2005 UTS Chancellor's Award-winning PhD Thesis looked at the art of writing as creative process, the underlying action of which could shift across media and manifest physically in dance, cinematically in film, theatrically on stage.  In this talk, he will reflect on his own journey shifting shapes of his creativity through nine books, hundreds of performances, dozens of films, reading from works that mark milestones along the way and illustrating with still and moving images the motion of the poetry through media.

Richard James Allen’s books The Kamikaze Mind and Performing the Unnameable: An Anthology of Australian Performance Texts will be available for sale at the talk and he will be signing copies of his books.

So bring your lunch and join us for what promises to be an interesting talk.
