Event Description

Pier Poetry is Australian Poetry's events program in NSW, run monthly at the Sydney Philharmonia Choir Studio, Pier 4/5 Hickson Road, Walsh Bay.

The first event of the series on 8 May (Mothers Day) is on the theme of Motherhood. Who fed me from her gentle breast And hushed me in her arms to rest, And on my cheek sweet kisses prest? My mother. Who ran to help me when I fell, And would some pretty story tell, Or kiss the place to make it well? My mother. ~Ann Taylor The event will be hosted by Anna Kerdjik Nicholson and feature poet and playwright Teresa Bell. There will also be an opportunity for emerging poets to read their work at the event on this theme. If you're an emerging poet and would like this opportunity, please submit a poem on the theme of Motherhood to leah@australianpoetry.org by April 30th.

Gotta say – the pier in Australian Poetry's promo shot doesn't look a bit like the actual pier at Walsh Bay where the event is on... Must be a Melbourne thing ;p
