Event Description

Inappropriate - Cathy Bray returns for her third Sydney Fringe solo of poetry and merriment and finds, yet again, her work appears nowhere in the list of Event Categories.

Luckily the Event Themes: 'Australian Comedy Political Revue Solo Spoof Satire' pretty much describes Inappropriate, her 3rd show for the Sydney Fringe festival.

As in past years, preambles, rants, smirks and gentle kick-arse asides, provide the context for the poems. Patrons at Madam Fling Flong (a salon in Newtown), can expect poetry brought to life through a series of irrational pet hates, harmless diatribes, puerile platitudes and inappropriate comic conclusions.

WARNING: She still has not sought, nor has she been given, Council approval for these poems.

QUOTES AND REVIEWS

What they said about Cathy Bray's 2010 Sydney Fringe show, Mad Woman's Breakfast. Eat my Bush!  held at Madam Fling Flong in Newtown:

"Cathy Bray’s solo show ‘Mad Woman’s Breakfast. Eat My Bush!’ is more than delightful – it is a hilarious and gently insightful expose on one woman’s fascination with America , and all of the cultural insecurities, oddities and quirks that go with it. Bray doesn’t miss a beat, effortlessly moving between the personal and the objective to produce a truly memorable show. I wouldn’t have missed it for quids!’                                            - David Musgrave, poet, author of poetry collections To Thalia (Five Islands Press, 2004) and On Reflection (Interactive Press, 2005) and  the novel Glissando the novel Glissando (Sleepers Publishing, 2010)

"...a fantastic show – so witty, hilariously accurate, fine samples of other people’s bon mots, good slabs of poetry from you, moving snippets about the family, great clarity of vision about America and our Aussie relationship to it."                  - Anna Kerdijk Nicholson, poet, author of ‘Possession: Poems about the voyage of Lt James Cook in the Endeavour 1768-1771 (Five Islands Press, 2010) , The Bundanon Cantos (FIP 2003)

What they will probably say about Cathy Bray's 2012 Sydney Fringe show, INAPPROPRIATE:

"Australia's answer to Phyllis Diller - think Judith Lucy in a spa pool with James Thurber, Ogden Nash and Jennifer Saunders, wishing she looked like Joanna Lumley"

"Cathy Bray captures the niche market of comedy for Kathy Griffin’s mother  And she's happy to hold the rest of us hostage!"
