Event Description

Multi-slam winning Singaporean spoken word artist Deborah Emmanuel bursts through Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane with her new book RED AND WHITE. BLACK AND BLUE. from the 5th of January to 27th February 2016. The book features new poetry as well as an excerpt from her third book, Rebel Rites. Rebel Rites is a creative non-fiction account of her year in the Singapore Prison System in 2008. It will launch in March 2016.

Deborah Emmanuel has performed her poetry on stages like TEDx Singapore, The Queensland Poetry Festival and the Bali Emerging Writers Festival. She has been described as an “animated young artist” who “isn’t afraid to speak her mind” by Honeycombers Singapore and a “poetic soul sister” by JUICE magazine. J.M. Donellan author of Killing Adonis, calls her first poetry collection When I Giggle In My Sleep “A beguilingly beautiful collection of the personal and the political. Words that weave like limbs on trees. Simultaneously melancholy and uplifting. Make sure you grab at the opportunity to see her perform if she's ever in the same corner of the world as you.”

Book a spot in our slam by posting here, then show up at 7pm to confirm. This one will book out!
