Event Description

The act of breathing often passes unnoticed as a marker of both constancy and change. The simple in, pause and out rhythms are key to our ability to engage with our emotions, thoughts and actions. As in breathing, we experience disturbance, transformation and connection in ways that move beyond the borders of convention, taking us into the foreign spaces of (un) knowing, (un)identity. In otherness, we lose and find ourselves, that state of mind and being where we seek to reign.

During the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2012 four Australian artists will perform work within the body of the SASA Gallery. This experimental performance draws on the dissonance and connection between states of otherness, like Lear and the Fool. It evokes the shifting identity as it breathes its way through rigid contemporary social structures and exhales into a communal body of language, (un)knowing and space.

You are invited to a performance examining the construal and (a) rhythmic breath of self-identity in a dynamic universe, always with others in mind.

Artists: Cecilia White (text/oboe), Domenico de Clario (piano), Ben Opie (oboe), Michael Bardon (cello)
