Event Description

Word Travels and Plump Gallery present:

100 Thousand Poets for Change-Beyond Tolerance + Slam for Change

Featuring:

Rima AKA Soul Beats
L-Fresh
You! In the Slam for Change

100 Thousand Poets for Change is the largest poetry reading in history with over 500 individual events scheduled to take place simultaneously on September 24th to promote environmental, social, and political change.

This year, 100 Thousand Poets comes to Plump Gallery in Sydney. The theme- Beyond Tolerance is all about multiculturalism…only fresher. We’re looking past the politics of ‘tolerance’ to celebrate and respect the cultural and ethnic diversity of this city.

Feature poet Rima AKA Soul Beats and hip hop sensation L-Fresh will get your creativity buzzing for the Slam for Change. There will be readings by other Sydney poets and an open section for the slam shy.

We’ll ply you with wine, champagne and tasty treats (by donation).
It’s all for a good cause, so be there and show the world that Sydney’s more than just a pretty harbour.

$10 entry/donation

In case you were wondering: the slam is 3 minutes to say whatever into a microphone (poetry, lyrics, story) on the theme of 'change' or 'beyond tolerance.' The audience appreciates (judges) and the winner gets a prize and heaps of respect!
